Q&A / BEFORE YOU COMMIT

Good questions.
Clear answers.

How do I apply for San Francisco?
Apply through the event’s Luma page. Share your skills, examples of work and motivation. We review every candidate manually; applying does not guarantee a place. The organisers confirm successful applications.
Who should apply?
Builders with practical skills in software, AI, embedded systems, cybersecurity, robotics, CAD, optimisation or prototyping. You do not need a maritime background. Show us what you can contribute to a team.
Can I come without a team?
Yes. Bring a team or meet collaborators at the event. The organisers will share final team arrangements with selected participants.
When and where is the San Francisco hackathon?
16–18 October 2026, from 4:30pm Friday to 4:30pm Sunday, Pacific daylight time. The venue is Mind the Bridge, 450 Townsend Street, San Francisco.
What does San Francisco participation cost?
Luma lists a $20 deposit, refunded on attendance. Participants arrange and pay for their own travel and accommodation. Check the application page and applicable event terms for the current details.
What happens after the weekend?
Follow-through depends on the event and the work. Turin’s Venture pathway includes six weeks of development for selected teams towards a pilot proposal. A signed pilot, investment or company formation is not guaranteed, and Turin’s programme does not automatically apply to San Francisco.
How can my company partner with Silicon Mountain?
Use the partnership contact form. Describe the operational problem, your goals and the expertise you can bring. We review fit, discuss challenge scope and responsibilities, then agree the programme and commercial terms.
Are Turin applications open?
Turin is the flagship space event in Q4 2026, with dates to be announced soon. Challenge briefs, venue and full participation details are forthcoming. You can enquire about fit now; an enquiry is not an application or a reserved place.
Who owns what a team builds?
The applicable Participant Terms and challenge agreements govern ownership, licences and use of results for each event. Review those documents before accepting your place. Contact us if you need a provision clarified.
